The 22-year-old has made 40 appearances for Man United this season but Alexis Sanchez’s arrival has limited him to just two starts since January, prompting fears from supporters that he might jump ship if Mourinho continues to restrict him to a bench role.
And according to Italian media outlet Tuttosport, Juventus are long-term admirers of Martial and have made contact with his representatives over a possible move in the summer.
The club is also hopeful of France teammate Blaise Matuidi, linked with United last summer, convincing Martial to move to Turin.
If Mourinho and the club at large thought the reaction to losing to Sevilla was bad, the storm generated by selling off Martial would be astronomical in comparison. I’m talking nuclear here.
There aren’t many players supporters enjoy watching more than the Frenchman and seeing the back of him would only further turn the tide of opinion against the boss. Indeed, it may be that very notion which prevents Ed Woodward from sanctioning his sale, even if Mourinho no longer wants him.
