Manchester United ‘serious’ in their chase for Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal: report

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United are reportedly serious in their aim to sign Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal as Jose Mourinho bids to strengthen his side in the summer transfer window.

The Chilean international has once more been linked with the club but it’s apparently a more serious transfer rumour this time around.

Mourinho has made it clear publicly that he’s happy with his attackers and will simply focus on United’s midfield and defence.

Vidal certainly fits that mould and appears to be the type of player the Portuguese manager would be interested in, making the rumour seem legitimate.

Fans will surely love to see the midfielder join the club but questions will surely be raised as to where he would fit in the starting XI.

According to We All Follow United, La Cuarta report that the Red Devils are serious and are willing to offer Arturo a four year contract worth £240k a week to steal him from the Bundesliga giants who will be offered £42m themselves.

Jose’s fondness for the 4-2-3-1 formation is nothing new and with the club already harbouring the likes of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba, it doesn’t initially appear as though there’s room for the Bayern man.

Although the former Chelsea manager has discussed focussing on the midfield and defence, it seemed as though he meant adding depth to it rather than bringing ready made first team players.

After all, it was Jose Mourinho who invested in Matic, Pogba, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof so far and with Arturo Vidal set to be 31 in the summer, it doesn’t sound like a necessarily clever signing.
