Manchester United’s Ander Herrera has insisted he wishes to play as many games as possible for the club amid rumours circulating of his potential departure.
AC Milan have been reported to be interested in the Spaniard who only has a year left on his current contract with the club.
Herrera was United’s player of the season just last year, a feat that seems to be a distant memory given his performances this season.
The arrival of Nemanja Matic has certainly stunted his match time but his own injuries haven’t help his situation either.
Either way the midfielder appears to deny any rumours or links of him leaving the Red Devils and has reiterated his desire to play more than he currently has.
According to ESPN, Ander said to United Review: “I have already played more than 150 games for this club and I want to keep adding games and trying to play as well as possible because one day when I retire from football, I will say I had the chance to play for the greatest club in England.
“So I want to enjoy every moment, not only the matches but also at the training ground. The first thing to be able to do that is to be fit and that’s why I am so happy to be back with the team.”
It’s difficult to nail down just why Ander Herrera has been so poor for Manchester United so far this season as there could be numerous reasons.
It’s possible that with the arrival of Matic, the former Atletico Bilbao man has struggled to have an identity on the field.
The 28 year old excelled but this season he’s no longer needed to play as a holding midfielder any longer and so he no longer knows what his role is.
It could be just a case of coincidence with Ander potentially starting the season in poor form, getting injured, then failing to recover from it all.
