Danny Murphy is the latest of pundits to laud Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard and he’s recognised the player’s intelligence.
The Englishman has finally gotten his due plaudits after his recent performances in the international break grabbed the attention of the neutrals.
Lingard grabbed his first senior goal for his country and was instrumental in the nation’s decent displays against the Netherlands and Italy.
The academy product has certainly had a break through season in terms of regularly starting for United’s first team and is considered to have many positive attributes that set him apart.
However, Murphy decided to focus solely on Jesse’s intelligence which is an extremely important asset for an attacking midfielder.
According to the Sport Review, Danny said to Sky Sports: “Lingard is very clever at making runs from deep. Lingard is such an intelligent player. He scores big goals for Man United.
“He has added an extra dimension. There were question marks about him a year ago.”
The Red Devils fan base has always known what Jesse Lingard brings to the first team but there were question marks over whether he could be a consistent starter or just a squad player.
The versatile attacker was never criticised for his play-making, pace or dribbling but more so on his finishing product and it’s clear he’s added that to his game.
Lingard’s goalscoring record this season currently sits in the double figures region which is proof to his improvement on that front although he could still work on it some more.
Number tens tend to be a little slow or lacking in intelligent runs due to their focus on playmaking but the 25 year old is blessed with both.
Having improved his finishing, Jesse is slowly becoming the complete attacking midfielder and it’s starting to become difficult to ignore his talent.
