Marcus Rashford has shown off a pair of Nike Air Max 97 CR7 trainers generously gifted to him from former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Englishman, who came on help Man United hold on to a 3-2 win over Manchester City over the weekend, has previously cited Ronaldo as one of his heroes growing up as a young red.
Ronaldo, who scored against Atletico Madrid on Sunday, stunned the watching world with a truly spellbinding overhead kick against Juventus in the Champions League last week.
He has displayed his generosity by sending Rashford, who takes keen interest in footwear, a pair of his new trainers.
It is always worth noting that Ronaldo, despite leaving United almost a decade ago and becoming a Real Madrid legend in the process, does not forget where he came from and who helped him lay the platform for the player he is today.
At United he was turned from a rough diamond – a player with dangerous talent but lacking the in-game intelligence to make it fully count – to the game’s most relentless athlete. He is 33 now, with many his age starting to wind down, but the ethic implanted in his head by Sir Alex Ferguson ensures he continues to ruthlessly dominate at every level.
