Ciro Venerator has made the rather bold claim that Manchester United have a ‘half agreement’ to sign Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam.
The Englishman has failed to consistently impress under his manager and it seems as though the Portuguese has lost all patience with him.
Shaw has been at United since 2014 but has failed to put together a single season of good form and it looks as though he could be on his way out.
Venerator though has focussed on Ghoulam and the likelihood of the player’s transfer to Old Trafford in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Red Rants, AreaNapoli quote Ciro as saying: “Is Ghoulam covered by Manchester United? Yes, he’s a champion, and despite the injury, he remains a man on the transfer market. United keep thinking about him.
“Between October and November, there was already a half agreement with Jorge Mendes to bring Alex Grimaldo (from Benfica) in blue (to Napoli) and Ghoulam to Manchester, but everything still needs to be concluded.”
The Red Devils interest in the Napoli man has grown in recent weeks with reports initially coming out around the winter period.
Faouzi Ghoulam is highly rated in Italy and there have been claims that Jose Mourinho sent scouts to watch him during Napoli’s matches.
The Serie A club themselves have been doing well, keeping up a title challenge with Juventus all season long with the left-back said to be one of the key performers.
Ghoulam is likely to cost a bit of money but reports claim it won’t be as much as perhaps Manchester United’s other defensive targets.
Mourinho is reported to be given a £200m transfer budget and what’s to use most of it on completely revamping his defence.
