Manchester City were not the only club to be offered Manchester United star Paul Pogba with there being reports of Real Madrid being on the list too.
Pep Guardiola rather shockingly revealed on the eve of the Manchester derby that the Frenchman’s agent, Mino Raiola, had offered him in the January transfer window.
Jose Mourinho spoke about the situation following the match in which his United side secured a superb comeback win with Pogba scoring a crucial brace.
The Portuguese manager dismissed what Guardiola said and insisted he has no interest as Raiola also denied doing such a thing.
Mourinho claimed that it was clear someone was lying and someone was saying the truth without stating who he thought was doing what but it’s not being revealed that Madrid were also offered the former Juventus star.
According to Sports Mole, Sports Illustrated report that the La Liga giants were also offered Paul in the January transfer window but turned him down in order to avoid disrupting their wage structure.
Zinedine Zidane is said to be a huge fan of the talented midfielder but it would make sense that the Spanish club didn’t wish to break the bank.
Since the Frenchman’s appointment as manager he’s exercised more restraint in the transfer market than his predecessors.
The report itself however could also be false but it does add some weight to Pep’s remarkable claims though Paul Pogba was quick to tap the Manchester United badge following the extraordinary win.
Gary Neville also slammed Mino as a poor reflection on the player and it wouldn’t be a surprise should the midfielder decide to drop his agent.
