Rio Ferdinand: I would love to see Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale in the Premier League

Manchester United fan favourite Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he would love to see Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale in the Premier League, suggesting he would back his former club’s pursuit of the player.

The Welshman has been linked with the club since last summer and Jose Mourinho did admit to interest then but things have since changed.

Bale was promised by Zinedine Zidane to be an important player for Madrid but as the season transpired he hasn’t gotten perhaps as much minutes as he would like.

This has led to the reports being fired up once more and the chances of the versatile attacker wishing to leave are quite high.

Ferdinand doesn’t directly claim United should go in for Gareth but does admit he would love to see such a talent in the Premier League once more.

According to Stretty News, Rio said to BT Sport: “For his talent, 100% [I would want him]. If you get him at a decent price, but talent-wise there’s no doubting this guy.

“But it’s just getting him out on the pitch every week is the problem. He hasn’t been able to do that. He’s a huge talent. He’s had a bad season by all accounts from what they’re saying, their fans are disgruntled and not happy about him.

“He’s got 16 goals. In the Premier League, I’d love to see him here.”

As likely as it is that Gareth Bale will leave Real, it’s almost equally unlikely that the Red Devils would sign him despite the reports.

Mourinho has insisted multiple times that he’s happy with his current crop of attackers and will not invest in that area of the pitch following Alexis Sanchez’s arrival.

So there appears to be only one scenario where Bale would move to Manchester United and that’s if one of their attackers leaves the club.

Talk of Anthony Martial leaving has grown with Juventus in particular sniffing around though some sections believe this is a way for the player to gain an improved contract.

United are said to want to hold onto the Frenchman but should things go south then a move for Gareth could transpire in the summer.
