Romelu Lukaku: I always knew I would score 100 Premier League goals

Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku claims he always knew he would go on to score 100 Premier League goals after making his debut at the age of 19.

The Belgian international had recently become the youngest foreign player to reach a century of goals in what many consider to be the world’s most competitive league.

Lukaku’s been with several English clubs since leaving his home country having featured for West Brom, Everton, Chelsea and now United.

Perhaps it was his experience in the league that saw Jose Mourinho opt to sign him in the summer instead of then Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata.

The decision has certainly been proved correct with the 24 year old having scored 26 goals across all competitions in his first season with the Red Devils.

According to the Daily Star, Romelu said: “In the Premier League, I started at 19, so I knew that I will be one of those guys that’s going to reach 100.

“That’s just the belief that I have in my qualities, but it all starts with the work that I put in. Hard work eliminates fear. That’s how I think.

“So, the more I put the work in, the more confident I am in certain situations because I’ve worked on it. I know what to do, I know where to do it and I don’t fear anything. If I fail, it’s no problem. There’s another opportunity.”

Romelu Lukaku has a bit of time to conclude his season with Manchester United with 30 or more goals ahead of linking up with Belgium for the World Cup.

The former Everton man has gotten stronger and stronger as the season has gone on and his passionate celebrations has quickly seen him become a fan favourite.

While other club’s supporters made light work of Lukaku, United fans stuck by him and knew the quality he truly possessed.

Since then he’s silenced his critics with Arsenal and Chelsea supporters in particular having to look at their own backyards in respect to their strikers’ underperforming.

Mourinho has huge faith in Romelu and that faith is quickly becoming engrained in all of the Red Devils’ supporters who are certain there’s even more to come.
