Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that Alexis Sanchez is growing into his role at the club and predicted he would be even better next season.
The Chilean international had a rocky start to his career at Old Trafford but has put in some impressive performances of late with the Manchester derby the most recent example.
Sanchez was key to United’s remarkable comeback win against their fierce rivals Manchester City last weekend as he had a hand in all of his side’s goals.
Mourinho’s men recovered from trailing 2-0 at half time to winning 3-2 by the time the full time whistle was blown much to the disbelief of fans.
The Portuguese manager explained he’s not a fan of the winter transfer market but did credit Alexis with improving recently.
According to Metro, Jose said to MUTV: “Hopefully next season he [Sanchez] will be better, which is what we think is going to happen.
“I am not a big fan of buying players in the winter market because of the period of adaptation especially with attackers. But he’s obviously improving and getting more comfortable with the team.”
Supporters will definitely witness the best of Alexis Sanchez next season after he’s gotten a full pre-season under his belt.
The former Arsenal man will also have the benefit of some rest as his country aren’t involved in the World Cup this summer as many of his teammates will be.
The time for recovery will certainly do him good and help him adapt to his surroundings better as well as hit the ground running next season.
Some of the club’s stars won’t even be with Manchester United at the start of their pre-season tour of the United States of America due to the tournament in Russia.
Sanchez’s true value will then be tested next season though he could still end the current campaign strongly in order to set himself up well.
