Axel Tuanzebe has noted that he will be “back on the pitch soon” after suffering yet another injury setback on loan at Aston Villa.
The 20-year-old impressed towards the latter stages of the 2016/17 campaign and joined the Championship side on loan back in January.
But he has been limited by a number of injuries so far, with the most recent knock coming 26 minutes into his fourth start for the club against Cardiff City last week.
Tuanzebe took to Instagram to show off his protective boot but insisted he would be back on the pitch soon.
His manager, Steve Bruce, recently confirmed that Tuanzebe had suffered an ankle injury but stressed that the knock wasn’t serious.
“Axel twisted his ankle and I don’t think he will make it yet, we need to get him back to fitness,” he said.
Supporters will hope to see the youngster return in time – and stay fit for – the closing stages of Villa’s campaign, which looks set to see them in the playoffs for a final spot in the Premier League next season.
Playing games of such magnitude and high intensity will be why Mourinho agreed to send him on loan to Birmingham in the first place.
