Jose Mourinho: I expect Paul Pogba to perform at a certain level

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has called on Paul Pogba to show more consistency in his game for future matches ahead of their clash with Tottenham.

The Portuguese manager’s side travel to Wembley on Saturday afternoon to take on the London club in the highly anticipated FA Cup semi-final.

It’s both teams only shot at glory and it could be argued that Mourinho is in more need of a win than Spurs so that the season isn’t considered a failure.

Knocked out of the Carabao Cup and Champions League as well as fierce rivals Manchester City recently being crowned Premier League champions has not gone down well with United fans.

A second placed finish as well as the FA Cup trophy is necessary to salvage the season and the former Real Madrid manager will need Pogba to lead the way.

According to Caught Offside, Jose said to the club’s official website: “I told him [Pogba] after Manchester City that I am not expecting him to be man of the match in every game.

“I am not expecting him to be phenomenal every match because that is really difficult, but to keep a certain level. That’s the challenge, that’s obvious.

“Has he done that in recent games? He was phenomenal against Manchester City, not good against West Brom, and again phenomenal against Bournemouth.”

It’s no longer a secret that Paul has been inconsistent for the Red Devils since arriving at Old Trafford and the onus is now on him to prove otherwise.

It was previously unclear why the Frenchman was underperforming occasionally but supporters now see there’s two different sides to the player and they’ll certainly be hoping it’s the right one who shows up to Wembley.
