Chelsea enter the face to sign Anthony Martial this summer – report

Chelsea have joined the race to sign Anthony Martial from Manchester United in the summer, according to reports.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford following a frustrating lack of game time ever since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez.

Juventus appear most keen to prize him away from Manchester, indicating they would be prepared to shell out £45m for him, while Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur have all reportedly registered interest as well.

And according to various national media outlets, Chelsea are set to monitor Martial’s situation ahead of the summer as they line up potential replacements for Eden Hazard, who has received interest from Real Madrid.

Man United remain intent on keeping Martial – a huge favourite among supporters – and the 22-year-old, despite reports suggesting otherwise, would prefer to stay at the club.

But if Mourinho shows no signs of including him further next season then you wouldn’t be surprised at Martial seeking a new challenge elsewhere. There certainly won’t be a shortage of clubs interested. And the 55-year-old, in turn, could use Martial as a makeweight for a deal to bring Willian – a player he signed at Chelsea and still deeply admires – the other way.
