Former Manchester United coach Eric Steele has explained that David de Gea is a legend in the making, joining a long list of people to praise him.
The Spaniard has been in outstanding form this season once more as he continues to prove his undoubted ability at a consistently high level.
De Gea is perhaps United’s only world class player though the likes of Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez are close in contention.
The two outfield players must take a leaf out of the keeper’s book by showing their ability consistently in order to be considered truly world class.
Either way Steele has explained how David is a Red Devil legend in the making and what makes him so special in comparison to other goalkeepers.
According to Goal, Eric said: “People often forget, you’re following a legend. Think of who came before him. I remember when I first met Edwin. ‘Wow!’
“He had to take this mantle on. That is where his mental strength and calmness was terrific.”
Though nothing has been confirmed yet it appears that David de Gea will be at Manchester United for the long term future despite Real Madrid renewing their interest.
Jose Mourinho has claimed there’s no chance the former Atletico Madrid man would be allowed to leave Old Trafford and previously explained the need to hold onto their best players.
De Gea could seriously carve a piece of United’s history out for himself should he remain and help collect trophies for the club once more.
