Jose Mourinho claims Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind are part of his plans for next season

Jose Mourinho has stressed that Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind are still part of his plans for next season at Manchester United.

Darmian has only made one Premier League start since October and looks set to make a return to Serie A in the summer, with Juventus reportedly interested.

Sky Sports have claimed that the club would be willing to listen to offers for Blind, who only has one start since the turn of the year, along with the Italian full-back in the summer.

Mourinho noted at his press conference, however, that the pair were part of his plans but stressed he wouldn’t stand in their way should they want to leave.

“They are part of my plans,” he said.

“I think when a player wants to go if that’s the case and when the right offers arrive in the club we study that because we always try to have the players happy, so if happiness means for them to leave let’s see what happens but they are in my plans I don’t want to sell I want to keep.”

We should stress that it is literally impossible for two players to be part of Mourinho’s plans for next season when they haven’t even been part of his plans this season. That just doesn’t make sense.

Mourinho will hardly state plainly that he plans to offload the pair given the poor negotiation position that would plunge United in over the summer. We should, more broadly, know by now that the manager will happily come out with something to push particular headlines even if it doesn’t reflect what he thinks in the slightest.
