Jose Mourinho: I don’t want to sell any Manchester United player

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has insisted he has no plans on selling any players despite reports claiming of a complete overhaul.

Despite the Portuguese manager repeatedly explaining he has no desire to make any changes to his attacking players in particular, reports have still linked the club to many of the world’s footballing stars.

Mourinho did admit to a need to address his midfield and defence however but it appears he’s backtracking a little from his initial statement.

Unless of course he’s going to bring in players but not sell any which seems bizarre given how United are overstocked in some departments.

Of course the former Real Madrid boss could just be trying to maintain the value of the players he’s going to sell and it’s likely fans will see a few outs.

According to the club’s official website, Jose said: “I feel that I don’t have to open the door of what is internal business. What I can say is the same I said in relation to Darmian and Daley Blind – I want to keep them.

“The only player that is leaving, for sure, is Michael [Carrick], who we have to replace with another player. There is not another one that in my reports to the board and to the owners I said I want to sell – not one.

“There is not one player that I want to sell, but it’s the same story that I told in relation to Matteo and Daley. When a player wants to leave, if he’s out of contract, he can [leave].

“When he has a contract, he cannot [leave] and we have to analyse what they bring to us. But, until this moment, no players have spoken with us about wanting to leave.

“No players have spoke with us about it and, from that, I don’t think I have to answer to you in a more objective way.”

The truth is supporters won’t find out what the truth is until the summer transfer window slams shut but it’s pretty likely there will be changes in the Manchester United squad.

After all, Jose Mourinho has spoken multiple times of needing additions in order to catch up with fierce rivals and champions Manchester City.

There is certainly a need to focus on the midfield and defence and a clear out is needed in order to truly revamp the side.
