The versatile attacker has had a breakthrough season in terms of going from a useful squad option to a regular first team player.
Lingard’s had his best season at the club this year and many believe it’s simply because he’s a late bloomer but now fans can enjoy his talent.
The academy product was sent out on loan four times before eventually becoming a part of the first team and it’s clearly a system that’s worked for him.
Rashford believes however, that Jesse was always a top player and was just lacking the final product, with things now clicking into place for him.
According to the club’s official website, Marcus said: “He’s always been a top player and the movements that he makes off the ball are terrific.
“But I think now he’s getting the final thing – whether it’s a goal or an assist – and it’s something that we’ve spoken about in the past.
“Now it’s coming together for him, so I couldn’t be happier for him because when you work so hard on something and then you don’t score the finish at the end or you don’t make the right pass at the end it’s hard to take. Now he’s getting it right all the time.”
Jesse Lingard has previously admitted his preference in playing in the attacking midfield position but his versatility has often given him more game time than he would’ve gotten otherwise.
Capable of playing on either flank or in midfield as well the Englishman has still featured regardless of whatever formation Jose Mourinho chooses to use.
While others have lost their places on occasion due to tactical setups such as Juan Mata, Lingard has benefitted from his positional awareness.
