Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has hailed Wayne Rooney as an incredible player, saluting the man he used to manage ahead of a potential move to the MLS.
The Englishman has been linked with a move to DC United and should the move transpire then it could see the league gain even more attraction.
The United States of America has often been a country players move to towards the end of their careers as they aim to experience one last payday as well as potential trophies.
Rooney wouldn’t be the first former United star moving across the pond with David Beckham having previously played for LA Galaxy and Zlatan Ibrahimovic making the switch recently too.
Moyes was in charge of the record goalscorer during their times together at Everton and at Old Trafford though it’s fair to say the latter wasn’t as pleasant.
Speaking to ESPN about Rooney, Moyes said: “He has been an incredible player. I don’t think you break the record at United as a top goalscorer and break the record for England if you haven’t contributed enormous amounts. He has been under pressure from being a young player, from being 16 years old.”
David though still pays Wayne a huge amount of deserved respect and there’s no doubt every Red Devil wishes to see him do well should he move abroad.
Jose Mourinho though has done well in replacing the veteran by investing in Romelu Lukaku who has proven to be talismanic for the club this Premier League season.
