Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho hasn’t given the most confident boosting injury update on Romelu Lukaku as he races to ensure his fitness for the FA Cup final clash.
The Belgian star is almost entirely ruled out for the club’s encounter against Watford on the final day of the Premier League season but there’s hope he’ll be fine for the cup competition.
United have looked dire without their talismanic striker and initial concerns of a lengthy injury were quickly put to rest.
However, it seems now that although it’s not a long term injury, it could still mean that Lukaku will be forced to watch from the bench.
Mourinho though is known for risking players even if they aren’t fully fit and it shouldn’t be a surprise should he start the former Everton man.
According to Belfast Telegraph, Jose said: “We hope he can play the final. He’s in Belgium having treatment and there is communication between doctors in Belgium and our medical department.
“We are just waiting to see if it’s possible for him to be involved in the final, if not starting at least he can be on the bench.”
Romelu Lukaku’s absence has been felt since he hobbled off the pitch against Arsenal with the Red Devils not looking the same for the past few matches.
The powerful forward has been key for his manager’s tactics more so than most would like to give him credit but it’s now been undeniable.
