Manchester United star Ashley Young has insisted that the club must come back stronger next season and challenge on all fronts after a frustrating end to the campaign.
United had around an hour to turn the game on its head but failed to do so despite improving in the second half and keeping over 60% of possession.
Mourinho came in for a tonne of criticism with some fans believing he set up his side too negatively to truly win the only trophy that could’ve won this season.
Either way Young, who started the match, has looked to put behind him what happened and looks to the future instead, hoping for more titles in the future.
According to the club’s official website, Ashley said: “I think we have to come back stronger: stronger in the league, stronger in the FA Cup, stronger in the League Cup, stronger in the Champions League. We want to be fighting on all fronts.
“We have the summer now to look forward and come back and prepare in pre-season. We wanted to win things, win titles, but it wasn’t meant to be.
“We finished second with the points we did; in a different season we would have won the league, but it wasn’t meant to be and today is a disappointing one. It will take a while to settle in and we now have the summer to prepare for next season.”
The Englishman was one of a few players in the side who had a decent game at left back though there wasn’t much defending to do considering how pegged back the Blues were.
Some supporters were frustrated with Ashley Young‘s attacking play however, believing that despite consistently getting high up the pitch, he fails to truly do any telling damage to the opposition.
