Massimiliano Mirabelli: We know Marouane Fellaini won’t renew with Manchester United

AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli has claimed that Marouane Fellaini won’t renew his contract with Manchester United and will depart this summer.

The Belgian has long been hailed by Jose Mourinho who has publicly supported him and praised him several times since coming to Old Trafford.

While Fellaini might not necessarily be the Portuguese manager’s most important player, he certainly is amongst the most trusted players.

That’s why Mourinho has insisted he wants the club to hold onto the former Everton man no matter what it costs.

However, it appears that the United board have other plans in mind and Mirabelli has gone a step further by exposing those plans.

According to Sports Mole, Massimiliano said to Sky Sport Italia: “Fellaini could be an important player, he is. We know he is not going to renew with United, but it’s difficult to say that we have closed the deal. He has important attributes.

“We will do something in that role but we are keeping everything in reserve. First we have to secure our signings, then announce them.”

Though Marouane has proven to be a decent player on occasion it’ll still delight some supporters that he will finally be moving on.

Many fans believe the midfielder is not up to the task of being a Red Devil and would rather see the club invest in a more talented individual.

Marouane Fellaini has been made the scapegoat of the club’s difficult times since Sir Alex Ferguson‘s retirement so there’s no surprise that he won’t be missed.

However, it would be unfair to claim the target man never gave his best at Manchester United and so in some ways it’s a shame to see him go, especially for free.
