Dean Saunders has warned Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale that joining Manchester United would be a step down for him in his career.
The Welshman recently stated his unhappiness with his match time at the Spanish capital after scoring the winning goals in the Champions League final.
Bale had insisted he wants to be playing week in and week out, sparking rumours of his potential departure to United who have been interested in him since last summer.
Whether the talented winger is trying to scare Madrid into giving him more minutes or if he has genuine interest in leaving is yet to be seen.
Saunders though thinks as far as which clubs are lining up for Gareth, the Red Devils would be a step down for him.
According to talkSPORT, Dean said: “Yes. They are two great clubs. Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, but [Real Madrid] have just won the Champions League, three on the bounce and four out of the last five years and they have got a lot of the best players in the world.
“It is a step down, as much as I don’t like to say it, it is.”
Dean Saunders isn’t being harsh with his words as most pundits tend to do so when discussing Manchester United but what he says does have merit.
Gareth Bale has just won the Champions League with Real Madrid while Jose Mourinho‘s men were knocked out ages ago by Sevilla.
The Spanish side are one that are in their prime with a coach who’s proven himself there while United are in a transitional period under a manager who’s yet to truly prove himself with them.
