Atletico Bilbao interested in re-signing Ander Herrera: report

by Marwan Harraz

Atletico Bilbao are reportedly interested in re-signing Manchester United star Ander Herrera in a move that would surely upset Jose Mourinho.

The Spaniard has a single year remaining on his contract which was initially meant to end this summer but was extended to the next.

If there was ever a time that Mourinho was considering moving on Herrera then it’s certainly now as he’s not getting any younger either.

The tenacious midfielder was originally signed from Atletico by Louis van Gaal during his disappointing tenure.

Jose could be tempted to cash in on the soon to be 29 year old but he’s already lost Michael Carrick to retirement and potentially Marouane Fellaini too.

According to the Old Trafford Faithful, AS report that Bilbao are willing to make Ander their highest paid player in a effort to lure him away from the Red Devils.

Fellaini’s contract runs out this summer as well and with both parties appearing to be at a stalemate it means the former Atletico midfielder is unlikely to leave.

However, money talks and with Fred being signed then Ander Herrera must surely be thinking about what kind of role he will have at the club next season given the competition.
