Sergej Milinkovic-Savic: I will decide my future after the World Cup

Manchester United target and Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has revealed he will decide his future after the World Cup.

The Serbian international is widely reported to being chased by Jose Mourinho despite recently completing the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred.

The Portuguese manager’s need for a midfielder was not a secret as he publicly stated his desire to replace Michael Carrick and potentially Marouane Fellaini.

The Englishman has retired from a playing career and will continue with a coaching role at United but the Belgian is in a different boat with his contract just set to expire.

Despite the chaos, Milinkovic-Savic has remained calm and believes he can take the time to make a decision on his future once the international tournament is completed.

According to the Express, Sergej said: “I am trying to remain concentrated, even though every day I read something new about me.

“Obviously, I feel pressure on me and know that I’ll have to live with this situation throughout the World Cup. It’s the same pressure as when I play for Lazio, so I am accustomed to it.

“I will decide where to continue my career after the World Cup. There’s a very good atmosphere among the squad and it feels like I’ve been here for years. I can’t wait to start the tournament.”

Fellaini’s contract stalemate certainly doesn’t help Mourinho’s decision whether to sign Sergej or not though they are completely different players.

Some reports even claim the talented midfielder is set to arrive only to replace Paul Pogba who is apparently going to be offloaded.

It would be a bold move by Jose should there be any truth to the rumours but at least there’s the ease of mind that United are replacing one top player with another.
