Bayern Munich have told Manchester United they will need to shell out £50m this summer to secure the services of Jerome Boateng, according to reports.
He has reportedly pinpointed Toby Alderweireld and Kalidou Koulibally as his main targets, but Boateng, who wants to leave the Allianz this summer, is considered an option as well.
And according to M.E.N‘s James Robson, Bayern have told Boateng he can leave the club this summer and will listen to offers starting at around £43m, and will likely agree to a £50m offer.
Mourinho’s emphasis continues to be on Alderweireld, who will leave Tottenham Hotspur no matter what this summer, but the German international may be a cheaper option as he looks to sign a third central defender in as many seasons.
His injury record – notably his hamstrings – are a problem, however, and serve as the main reason behind why Bayern are happy to let him leave after the World Cup. The last thing the manager wants, you sense, is another central defender persistently on the injury table next term.
