Fred: I hope to make history with Manchester United

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United’s latest signing Fred has revealed what made him join the club, admitting Jose Mourinho played a role as well as his desire to make history.

The Brazilian was reportedly a target of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City but the Portuguese manager blew his rivals out of the water by managing to complete the transfer.

It was previously announced that United came to an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer fee but things then went quiet with the deal not officially declared.

Thankfully, Fred‘s work permit, medical and personal details were all completed without any real issues and fans can now relax as well as potentially watch their new man in action at the World Cup.

The midfielder wasn’t shy in explaining just why he chose the Red Devils over City and was adamant he’s up for the challenge of representing the club.

According to the club’s official website, Fred said: “It’s going to be a big challenge, that’s for sure. But as I have already said, I am someone who is always looking to improve.

“I’m looking to show the best of my abilities every day and to work to improve, and that means working to play well and put in good performances in the Premier League and with Manchester United to achieve great things and win titles.

“At United, I’m looking to win titles, alongside my new team-mates and my new manager, win matches with the club and make history by achieving great things together.”

Fred is expected to become a starting XI player rather than a squad player as he should slot into a three man midfield alongside Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman is slowly seeing the Manchester United team being built around him in order to get the best out of him so there’s the hopes that he can kick into top gear next season.
