Ander Herrera has expressed his delight at marking four years since he joined Manchester United from Athletic Bilbao.
The midfielder enjoyed a strong opening campaign under Louis van Gaal, especially towards the latter stages, but somewhat regressed along with more or less everyone else during that tumultuous 2015/16 season.
His resurgence under Jose Mourinho has been impressive, winning the ‘Player of the Year’ award in 2017 and producing some big performances last season.
Herrera has taken to social media to express just what it meant to him to be part of the club for four years – an eon in modern terms.

The Spaniard does not possess a wealth of technical ability – especially in Spanish terms – and has therefore had to fight every week, every game, to stay afloat in an environment of constant flux at the highest level for four years.
And his popularity among supporters derives from that kind of work ethic. Questions loom over a second midfield signing to accompany that of Fred, thereby further pushing Herrera into the backwaters for next season, but even then you cannot underestimate the clutch role the 28-year-old can play.
Like him or not, United have not had many better fighters in the post-Ferguson era.
