Sky Sports: Matteo Darmian holds meeting with Juventus sporting director

Matteo Darmian‘s entourage have held talks with Juventus sporting directors Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici this week to discuss a potential move back to Turin, according to Sky Sports.

The Italian spent the 2017/18 campaign on the periphery under Jose Mourinho and didn’t make a single Premier League start between November and April.

He has been touted for a move back to Serie A for some time, with Marotta stating last month that Darmian was a player Juventus wanted.

And according to sources at Sky Sports, Darmian’s entourage have met with the Serie A champions as they look to finalise a deal over the next couple of weeks.

The idea of Darmian being at Old Trafford next season is simply inconceivable – not just because he is simply too slow for the Premier League but, more importantly, because Mourinho genuinely appeared to forget about him last season.

Mourinho’s treatment of the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly was well documented throughout the 2017/18 campaign, but their predicaments look like nothing compared the Italian, who managed just 12 starts in nine months.

He will no doubt want a move back to familiar surroundings in an attempt to resurrect his ailing club career.
