Manchester United youngster Demetri Mitchell is out to make an impression after being a part of the pre-season tour squad and starting in the first pre-season friendly.
The winger was a part of the 1-1 draw vs Club America and was given plenty of time to make an impact out on the left wing ahead of Luke Shaw.
Mitchell was also taken on tour last year but was then loaned out and did so well the loan that Hearts were said to be interested in buying him.
Capable of playing at left-back as well, his versatility will certainly help him in his quest for more minutes and first-team action.
Whether he does enough to convince Jose Mourinho to involve him in United’s bid to win the Premier League or not is yet to be seen though.
According to Manchester Evening News, Demetri said: “I came on tour last year then I went on loan and I think I have learnt a lot. I learnt a lot and I’m here for my second time and I feel more experienced and ready.
“The training has been good. Four days at Carrington and came out here it’s been short and intense. I have had a long summer so when the training is good and sharp it gets you ready to go.
“You could see they were ready for the game and ready to play against us and they were aggressive and in our face it was a good test and then on to the next ones.
“When you play with top quality players you do become sharper and we learn that in training. When you are a young player like me playing against quality opposition you want to take it in your stride and make an impression and that’s what I’m trying to do.”
Several of the Red Devils’ young stars are out to impress given how many of the regular first team players aren’t involved in the tour just yet.
The players missing are the ones who played for their countries at the World Cup and have various dates on when they’ll meet up with the squad once more.
Alexis Sanchez who couldn’t be a part of the tour just yet due to visa trouble has had that issue resolved and should be linking up with the squad soon.
