Jose Mourinho wants to sign a central defender and a winger before transfer window closes – report

Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United to add reinforcements at central defence and out wide before the transfer window shuts on August 9, according to reports.

The club sealed deals to sign Diogo Dalot and Fred in June, but have since made no improvements aside from signing third choice keeper Lee Grant from Stoke to allow for Joel Pereira to head on loan.

Supporters have grown increasingly irate with the lack of activity from their club and Mourinho, speaking after the 0-0 draw with San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday, was far from optimistic over any new signings arriving at the club.

According to M.E.N‘s Samuel Luckhurst, Mourinho wants Ed Woodward to wrap up transfers for another central defender and a winger before the window closes in 18 days.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld has been a target for some time but United are reluctant to meet the defender’s hefty valuation following an impressive World Cup.

Both Gareth Bale and Willian are players Mourinho admires and views capable of adding an extra dimension to the club’s attack for the 2018/19 season. The Welshman, however, is set to stay at Real Madrid and Willian’s most likely next destination will be Barcelona.

As things stand, United are miles away from where they need to be on August 10.
