Manchester United target Arturo Vidal has all but confirmed he’s leaving Bayern Munich after he wasn’t included in the German side’s pre-season squad.
The Chilean has been consistently linked with Man United ever since they made an unsuccessful approach for his services in 2014 under Louis van Gaal.
Bayern’s midfield ranks are overcrowded at this moment in time and Vidal has indicated for some time a desire to leave this summer.
And news of Vidal being left out of Bayern’s pre-season tour squad has only intensified speculation of a potential move to Old Trafford this summer
News of his agent Fernando Felicevich, whose clientele also includes Alexis Sanchez, arriving in Munich today is likewise an indication of things moving towards an exit from the Allianz Arena.
United’s emphasis is by no means on midfield but the circumstances of this particular transfer could be favourable for them: Vidal, first of all, is 31, an age Mourinho likes, which means he’d be cheaper than most Bayern midfielders.
Speaking of which, Bayern have about eight hundred of those, so dispensing with one – and not to a domestic rival – could be easier than many anticipate.
Then again, Mourinho would still prefer Marouane Fellaini any day of the week.
