Manchester United are reportedly stepping up their interest in Harry Maguire and are prepared to splash the cash in order to lure him away from Leicester City.
The Englishman was central to his nation’s fantastic World Cup showing and garnered the interest of several top clubs but it’s Jose Mourinho who’s said to want him the most.
It’s no secret the Portuguese manager is on the lookout for players to improve his defence and after Chris Smalling was dropped for the Three Lions in favour of Maguire, it could happen on club level too.
The Leicester star is currently away on holiday and recently admitted his ambitions to feature at the top of world football, hinting he’d love a move to United.
The Foxes are said to be hoping to hold onto their key man by offering him a new contract but Mourinho has stepped up his efforts by flashing the cash.
According to the Telegraph, the Red Devils willing to spend more than £50m to pry Harry away from Leicester’s hands but he will need to try and force through a move.
The report is in contradiction to claims Jose wasn’t willing to spend around that figure for initial target Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.
