Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho believes it doesn’t make sense for Vitor Lindelof to join up with the rest of the squad for the pre-season tour.
The Swede is set to return soon from holiday following his exploits at the World Cup but apparently won’t join up with his club teammates.
Lindelof has been working during his own time off to try to bring himself back to fitness ahead of a crucial campaign for his career.
After impressing for his country on the biggest international stage, the centre-back has the opportunity to continue his form for United.
It’s not quite make or break for the former Benfica man but he’ll either establish himself as a starting XI player or a bench player.
According to Manchester Evening News, Jose said: “Victor Lindelof is a possibility, he is not a right-back but is a possibility, he starts training next Monday.
“I will send people to Manchester to train with Victor, it makes no sense for him to come to the United States.”
Since Victor returns from his holiday on Monday it makes sense to not ask him to join for the rest of the pre-season tour in the United States of America.
The Red Devils’ remaining fixtures are against Liverpool and Real Madrid with the former being played on Saturday while the latter on Wednesday.
Even if he went straight to the USA on Monday, he would not be deemed fit for a match just yet and so remaining in Manchester and building up fitness for Bayern Munich instead is logical.
