New signing Fred has expressed his delight after completing his first training session as a Manchester United player.
The Brazilian, who attracted interest from Manchester City as well, agreed to join the club last month from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of £52.7m
He returned to training for the first time since the World Cup, during which he didn’t play a single minute as Brazil crashed out at the quarter-final stage.
Fred was all smiles at the UCLA campus today and took to social media – having a go at English himself rather than getting someone else to do it, which I like – to voice his enthusiasm at completing his first day of training at the club.

Fred would have no doubt felt some first day nerves as he descended on the training ground alongside his new teammates. This is, after all, a big step up from Ukrainian football.
But he will not be short in confidence. Mourinho earmarked him as a player United needed some time ago and he remains the club’s only ‘big’ signing. His role will be a clearly defined one: to provide greater zip and forward impetus to the side’s midfield, freeing up Paul Pogba and easing pressure on Nemanja Matic in the process.
