Manchester United have reportedly targeted Barcelona’s Yerry Mina as their alternative to Harry Maguire should they fail in their pursuit of him.
The Englishman emerged as one of the names on Jose Mourinho’s wanted list following his performances at the World Cup this summer.
Maguire had performed admirably, helping his nation to an unexpected semi-final spot and was one of their star players of the tournament.
Mourinho was said to have been so impressed by the centre-back that he’s dropped any interest he had in Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.
However, Leicester have been stubborn so far, refusing to sell for cheap and attempting to offer their key player a new contract to ward off interest.
According to the Mirror, RMC Sport report the Red Devils could rival Everton for Yerry after claims the La Liga side are keen on freeing up a non-EU spot in their squad.
The Colombian only arrived in Spain in January but it’s believed the champions no longer feel the need to hold onto him as they continue their own squad overhaul of sorts.
Mina himself had gained recognition for his form at the World Cup and that may have been enough to convince Jose to sign him instead of Harry.
