Manchester United to challenge PSG for Jerome Boateng: report

Manchester United will reportedly rival PSG for Bayern Munich star Jerome Boateng as they step up their efforts to sign a centre-back.

Jose Mourinho has publicly admitted he hopes to see two new players brought into the club but will concede with just one.

Centre-back has long been a priority for the Portuguese manager who’s been chasing Toby Alderweireld, Leonardo Bonucci, Harry Maguire, Yerry Mina and now Boateng all summer long.

It’s clear vice-executive chairman Ed Woodward has been handed a list of transfer targets but has apparently failed at bringing in several names.

With reports all claiming the one similar issue across the board, it seems the United hierarchy don’t wish to meet the price tags of any of the aforementioned names besides the German’s.

According to Manchester Evening News, Bild report the Red Devils’ won’t allow PSG to get a clear shot at Jerome and will take aim at him themselves as he looks set to leave Bayern.

Supporters will remember the last time the club bought a player from the German champions it did not end well in Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Both players have similar traits in being over the hill and injury prone yet it seems Manchester United are still interested in bringing him in.
