Shaw was named Man of the Match after an impressive performance at left-back, which was topped off with him scoring his first ever career goal late on in front of the Stretford End.
That goal proved to be the winner, and Mourinho described his showing as “complete” when speaking about him after the full-time whistle.
In his post-match press conference, the Man United manager said: “His game was very complete. If I forget the goal, which was an important goal for us, the performance was very complete.
“I think there was one defensive mistake, and probably the linesman could have helped him and given a free-kick against Leicester. But it was a very, very complete performance, now he has to just keep going.
“The mentality was very good, the tactical discipline was very good too. He still had the power to go forward and score an important goal for us.”
Shaw’s eye-catching display in defence and in attack has almost certainly earnt him a spot in the starting line-up against Brighton & Hove Albion next Sunday at the AMEX Stadium.
The 23-year-old, and United fans all over the globe, will be hoping that the 2018-19 season can finally be the one in which he breaks through as a star at the club.
He’s certainly got off to a quite perfect start.
