Juan Mata: I enjoy playing in the Premier League

Manchester United star Juan Mata has hinted he’d like to stay at the club for as long as possible by stating he enjoys playing in the Premier League.

The Spaniard’s future has never really settled since Jose Mourinho arrived at Old Trafford as he’s constantly been linked with other European clubs.

Mata was even said to be on the Portuguese manager’s transfer list for the summer as he sought to bring in replacements.

Nothing transpired as usual but the feeling will always remain that Mourinho is waiting for the right time to cut ties with the playmaker.

Nonetheless, the former Real Madrid player had nothing but positive things to say about the league overall but also of the United fans.

According to Manchester Evening News, Juan wrote in his weekly blog: “I enjoy playing in the Premier League a lot. I like the style of play, I like the organisation and above all, I like the atmosphere in the stadiums.

“I will never get tired of saying it, the support that a player gets here is fantastic, and honestly, you have to be thankful for being able to experience something amazing like this in your career.

“At the end of the day, football without you all, and without the passion that it brings, it wouldn’t be the sport that we know and love today.”

There’s no doubting Mata’s quality but concerns arise as to where he fits in with Jose’s system with this Red Devils side.

The former Chelsea manager is known for his love for a counter-attacking style that uses robust, powerful and pacy players.

Juan has none of those characteristics but still proved himself to be useful last season when Manchester United were trying to break down stubborn opposition.

Whether that’s enough to keep him at the club under Jose’s management or not remains to be seen but at least on his end, he looks to wish to stay.
