New signing Diogo Dalot is expected to return to full training with the Manchester United squad this week, according to reports.
The teenager became the club’s first signing of the summer in June, arriving for a fee of £19m, but has spent the summer on the sidelines following a knee operation in May.
His inability to train with the squad, coupled with Antonio Valencia‘s lack of fitness, has put Jose Mourinho in a tough position over the right-back role.
But according to the Metro‘s Chris Davie, the Portuguese defender, having trained away from the main group over pre-season, will finally get the chance to work with his new teammates this week.
Watching his teammates from afar would have been challenging for a kid who, more than anything, will want to get his feet under the table at a club of this size.
Mourinho will no doubt want to ease Dalot in: losing him to injury again or harming his confidence by throwing him into the deep end too quick would be deeply frustrating for a manager who was notably angry over a lack of personnel this summer.
He will be given a solid week of training under his belt, likely staying in Manchester over the September international break to build up fitness, ahead of making a possible debut at Watford next month.
