Telegraph: Barcelona to continue monitoring Paul Pogba’s situation at Manchester United

Barcelona will continue to monitor Paul Pogba’s predicament at Manchester United this month, according to the Telegraph‘s Jason Burt.

The Catalan giants had a hilariously awful bid for Pogba – comprising of £45m plus Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina – rejected last week and privately accept that Man United will not sell the Frenchman this month.

But Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola, who offered the midfielder to Manchester City in January, remains intent on sealing a deal with Barcelona as rumours of friction between his client and Jose Mourinho continue.

And according to Burt, the La Liga champions have not given up on signing Pogba beyond this month having done something similar in their pursuit of Philipe Coutinho.

Barcelona see possibility in the Pogba situation. The Frenchman’s relationship with Mourinho is far from perfect, and could worsen as the season goes on. Mourinho’s relationship with Raiola is far worse; the Portuguese has notably changed tack from the last two transfer windows by refusing to engage with Raiola or his clients all summer.

You also sense that another season without trophies for Pogba, who won the World Cup over the summer, would force him to search for a new challenge elsewhere. United face a tough task keeping him.
