Andreas Pereira has been full of praise for Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and has revealed how they were regularly in contact during his loan spell at Valencia last season.
The 2014-15 Denzil Haroun Reserve Player of the Year has looked mightily impressive in La Liga over the past two years at both the Mestalla and Granada before that, and now finds himself in the manager’s plans at Man United.
Despite earning his first-team debut four years ago, Pereira impressed throughout pre-season and made his Premier League bow last week in the 2-1 win over Leicester City to kick off the new campaign in fashion.
Speaking to ESPN ahead of Man United’s trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, in which he’s expected to start in midfield again, Pereira gave a bit of insight into his and Mourinho’s relationship.
“Mourinho is a great guy, he always gives me tips inside and outside the pitch. He treats the players as his friends and always messaged me before the games I played at Valencia. I’m very happy to work with him.”
The 22-year-old has shown great versatility throughout his career so far as he started out and a dangerous winger before moving central, until he was utilised as a holding midfielder where he’s looked immense under Mourinho so far.
After a disappointing summer transfer window, the Brazilian honestly feels like a whole new signing and will provide tough competition for Nemanja Matic upon his return to full fitness.
