The Brazilian has emerged as one of the club’s potential key players after having an outstanding pre-season this summer.
Pereira has taken advantage of Nemanja Matic‘s absence, filling in for the Serbian in defensive midfield to great effect.
Matic had suffered an injury with his nation during the World Cup and it turned out to be worse than initially expected.
Mourinho may have first had huge concerns following the injury but he too may be relying on someone in terms of the Brazilian.
According to Manchester Evening News, Andreas said to MUTV: “We rely on him because he always prepares the team well. He knows what to do.
“He is a winner and he always wants to win, so because he is like that we turn into that and we want to be like him, so we turn into winners as well so it’s very important.”
If Pereira can keep up his good form there’s no guarantee Nemanja can walk right back into United’s starting XI.
The former Chelsea man is one of Jose’s most trusted players but the youngster’s performances cannot be ignored.
Andreas has done everything that could be asked from a back-up player looking to break into the starting XI on a regular basis.
Either way it’s good to see the United players praising Mourinho following rumours of dissent in the dressing room that were said to be founded on false claims from the media.
