Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has taken aim at Manchester City following the release of their documentary, hinting they didn’t have any class.
The Portuguese manager’s side were the only club to deny Pep Guardiola’s side permission to film at Old Trafford last season.
City’s documentary covers the behind the scenes ongoings of the club during their record breaking points total in the Premier League that saw them named champions.
Mourinho is said to have quite the rivalry with Guardiola stemming from their days at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.
Either way, the former Chelsea boss has taken aim at United’s rivals quite early on in the season already.
According to Manchester Evening News, Jose said: “I think you can have a fantastic movie while respecting the others.
“You don’t have to disrespect others to have a fantastic movie, but, you can be a rich club and buy the best players in the world, but you can’t buy class. And they showed that clearly, that was really obvious.”
Unless it was by accident, it’s an interesting choice of words by Mourinho who calls City’s documentary a movie, as if it’s not real.
There’s no doubt there must be some level of dramatisation or acting for it to work but it is another hit by the Red Devils’ boss.
Jose is known for his mind games and this could just be his own way of trying to kick things off early to get in Pep’s head.
The only way to know if it works is whether or not Manchester United beat Manchester City when they face off later on this season.
