Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he’s wary of the threat Brighton & Hove Albion carry by recalling Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat at the AMEX Stadium last season.
Pascal Gross netted a second-half winner back in May as Brighton sealed their Premier League status but it should be a different story this time around as the club are in much higher spirits with something to play for.
Man United travel down to the south coast on the back of their 2-1 win over Leicester City on the opening day of the new campaign and will be looking to build up their momentum for what will be a hotly-contested title race.
Talking to the press ahead of Sunday’s clash, Mourinho explained his mindset: “Looking to the match, I think the best way to look at it is to remember that three months ago we lost there 1-0.
“They have a great coach in Chris Hughton, good players, a good team, a beautiful stadium, but they are difficult to play. They know how to play and they’ve kept the same team.”
Mourinho’s options will be boosted as Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young should be fully fit following the exploits at the World Cup over the summer, with the former expected to start up front.
