The Welshman has called on the Frenchman to fight for his spot in the starting XI despite rumours of unrest between player and manager.
Mourinho was said to be displeased with Martial after he left the club’s pre-season tour to be with his partner who was giving birth.
The Portuguese boss wasn’t unhappy with that aspect but was unhappy with how the youngster failed to report back that he would be returning late.
Either way, Giggs hasn’t focussed on the rumours of unrest and simply believes it’s down to Anthony to prove whether he wants to be a key player or not.
According to Manchester Evening News, Ryan said to Sky Sports: “I hope Anthony Martial comes back and fights for his team and once the transfer window closes in Europe then hopefully he will be able to concentrate on his football.
“We have seen glances of his qualities, which are definitely there.
But it’s up to him to prove he deserves a starting place again.”
Martial definitely has plenty of competition for places whether it’s on the left-wing or as a striker.
The Belgian is singlehandedly the club’s best option up front simply because of how much he suits Jose’s style while the rest struggle a little to lead the line.
Unsurprisingly, physical strength and hold-up play aren’t Rashford’s, Anthony’s or Sanchez’s best qualities so the 22 year old will have to try to win over the left-wing position instead.
