No, it’s not just Manchester United supporters who want Anthony Martial to feature a lot more throughout the 2018-19 season. Former players share the same wish.
Before Alexis Sanchez’ January arrival last term, the 22-year-old was enjoying a great season on the left wing before his game time was heavily affected, in rather unfair fashion it must be said.
Martial watched the whole of Man United’s Premier League opener against Leicester City from the substitutes bench, but ex-defender Wes Brown believes Jose Mourinho needs to make use of his dangerous qualities.
Brown told the Daily Star: “I like Martial, I really do. I know he didn’t get much game time last season but he’s a player that if I was playing against he’s just a pure threat with his speed.
“He’s a player that United have who definitely can change a game and hopefully he can get in the team.”
The Frenchman’s agent, Philippe Lamboley, came out during the summer and dropped the bombshell that he wanted to depart Old Trafford, however, nothing materialised and he appears to be a part of Mourinho’s short-term plans.
He’s become a fan favourite since joining from AS Monaco for £36m back in 2015 and is still considered to be one of the hottest prospects in world football despite his recent struggles.
It would be a huge loss for United is he was to leave, so hopefully he gets the minutes he’s satisfied with and can make an impact throughout the campaign.
