Wes Brown: Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard will get better every year

by Alex Turk

Wes Brown has backed Manchester United attacking duo Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford to only keep on improving at the club after their rise to prominence on the first-team scene.

Lingard was a late bloomer, as infamously predicted by legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and is now one of the top stars in Jose Mourinho‘s squad as well as the England set-up under Gareth Southgate.

Rashford was nowhere near first-team football three years ago but is now considered to be one of the most promising names in world football and is the player Mourinho had statistically used the most since his arrival as boss in 2016.

Speaking to the Daily Star, former Man United centre-back Brown pointed out the two best friends as players who’ll only get better: “I like Rashford, complete threat I would call it.

“I’d hate to play against him. I think he’s going to get better every year now, same with [Jesse] Lingard.”

Following his impressive exploits at the World Cup during the summer, it’s very unlikely Lingard will play a part in Sunday’s clash at Brighton & Hove Albion.

However, Rashford will be looking to make an impact as United look to build on their winning start to the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.

The 20-year-old forward inherited the iconic no. 10 shirt ahead of this term so he’s bound to do anything to live up to his potential and the names who have previously worn it.
