The real reason Gareth Bale decided against leaving Real Madrid and making a potential switch to Manchester United has been revealed.
The Welshman has been linked to the club since the last summer when Jose Mourinho let it be publicly known he was chasing the player.
Things didn’t work out in the previous campaign and it didn’t this season either much to the Portuguese manager’s disappointment.
The need to invest in the right-wing position has been apparent with Mourinho even chasing Ivan Perisic as an alternative.
United concluded their summer transfer window without making any investments in the position in the end.
According to Manchester Evening News, Marca report Bale was reassured he would be Real’s main star this season and so he opted against a move to Old Trafford.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo made the shock move to Juventus there was definitely an opening for someone to take his place.
Many believed Madrid would reinvest in a Galactico player to fill the void but it seems for now they’re trusting Gareth instead.
Whether that comes back to haunt them or not is yet to be seen but it seems the Red Devils can finally forget about getting their man in the near future.
