New signing Diogo Dalot has confirmed he is close to making his Manchester United debut after a spell on the sidelines.
The Portuguese was the club’s first signing of the summer, arriving from Porto for a fee of £19.3m in June.
He underwent surgery for a knee injury in May and is yet to feature in a Man United shirt as he continues to work his way back to full fitness.
Dalot, expected to return in September, has confirmed on social media that he is on the cusp of making his debut under Jose Mourinho.

The emergence of Dalot – just 19, well built, a smiley character, blessed with enormous talent – will serve as a welcome injection of something new, something different, amid the same old problems emerging with Mourinho and United this season.
Whether he can solve the club’s issues at full-back, however, is a different task entirely. Many supporters saw the need for a complete overhaul in that position ahead of the summer. The club’s only response happened in June, which feels like lifetimes ago, through signing a teenager with just eight senior appearances to his name.
He will come into the team with pressure on his shoulders to deliver instantly.
