Pundit Jamie Carragher has slammed Manchester United star Victor Lindelof, claiming he’s out of his depth at the club.
The criticism came following the disappointing loss to Tottenham Hotspurs at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Lindelof wasn’t even part of the starting XI but he didn’t inspire confidence after coming on for Phil Jones.
The Englishman was subbed off due to his injury but Carragher was presumably still frustrated with the Swede after the Brighton defeat too.
Victor and Eric Bailly were both dropped for the clash against the London club due to their poor displays last week.
According to the Sport Bible, Jamie said to Sky Sports: “I can’t really criticise Lindelof because it gets to the stage that he’s so far out of his depth that you start to feel sorry for him.”
Jose Mourinho must surely be wondering what has gone wrong with his two investments in defence not paying off as of yet.
Both Lindelof and Bailly weren’t expected to be the finished article but they’ve had a season and two respectively to grow into their roles.
The Ivorian has proven too erratic and injury prone while the former Benfica man continues to struggle to adapt to his new surroundings.
Normally if a player fails to adapt within a season’s time then they fail to adapt completely which must be a worry for Mourinho as he’s running out of time.
